Bran Castle

Bran Castle is first mentioned in the documents between 1211 and 1225 when the fortress was built by the Teutonic Knights. Bran castle is connected to the legend of Vlad Tepes, after Bram Stoker wrote his novel "Dracula". Bran Castle was initially a military fortress for defense, having at its base the shape of an irregular quadrangle. With the lapse of the time, the fortress has undergone several changes, and in 1920 it was converted into a royal residence, becoming the property of Queen Maria. The most important restoration works were performed between 1920 and 1929. The castle is today one of the most beautiful castles in Romania, just one of the reasons for which it deserves to be visited.
