Putna Monastery

Putna Monastery cornerstone was laid in 1466 by the voivode Stefan Cel Mare. Putna Monastery is today one of the most important cultural, religious and artistic Romanian centers, being called the "Romanian People’s Jerusalem" by Mihai Eminescu. One of the monastery legends tells that when Stefan Cel Mare decided to choose a place to build it, he pulled the bow from a mountain top and where the arrow fell, he built the place of worship. Nowadays, it is preserved a fragment of a maple trunk where probably the arrow of Stefan Voda would have been stuck in those times. We are glad that you shall have the chance to see the beauty of the monument during our trip.
