Peles Castle

Peles Castle was built during King Carol I of Romania and it was the summer residence of the Romanian royal family. The palace became one of the most important monuments of Europe in the 19th century. King Carol I and Queen Elizabeth lived in the Hunting House until the completion of the castle. Peles castle was the first electrified castle in Europe, being equipped with a power generation plant. The castle has 160 rooms and 30 bathrooms. The Florentine Hall, the Grand Salon, the theatre hall (60 seats) and the royal lodge are only some of the castle attractions. On the land bought by the King there were built, besides the Peles Castle, the Pelisor, the Guard Body, the Economat, the Hunting House, the Stables, the Power Generation Plant and Sipot Villa.
