Turda Gorges

Turda Gorges form a zone of national interest protected by law. It stretches along Hasdate Valley, on the west side of Turda. The Gorges have a length of 1300 m and a height of 200 m and they were formed by water erosion of the Jurassic limestone rock. The landscape wilderness is the main characteristic of these Gorges. In Turda Gorges about 50-60 caves, arches and niches are known. One of them is the "Cetateaua Mare" Cave or "Balica Cave", thus named because the outlaw Nichita Balica was sheltered there for a period of time. He participated in the anti-Habsburg revolt of rebels of Kuruc. We invite you to admire the beauty of Turzii Gorges during this trip.
