Voronet Monastery

Sfantul Gheorghe Church of the Voronet Monastery is probably the most famous church in Romania, mainly for its exterior frescoes and their unusual blue colour. The church is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. The monastery is located on a riverbank near Gura Humorului town. The Legend tells that during a crisis of a war with the Turks, Stefan cel Mare came to Daniel Archimandrite, in his hermitage in Voronet and asked him for advice. The Prince, winning the battle against the Turks, has kept his promise to the monk and built a new church dedicated to Sfantul Gheorghe, the patron of victory in a battle. We invite you to discover the beauty of this monastery during our trip.
